As well as the imminent publication of my second poetry collection, That Little Voice, (copyright Virginia Betts, 2023) being on the horizon, I have also been busy putting together the second collection of stories. The amazing Lyn Stuart is once again illustrating for me.
I’ve got the usual gothic, ghosts and other supernatural tales, but there will also be an exciting new Gritty Noir series, ‘Burnt Lungs and Bitter Sweets,’ (Copyright Virginia Betts, 2023) on the way. Whether it is included, or takes on a book of its own remains to be seen! Probably the latter…
I’ve been honoured to have two stories published by Urban Pigs Press from this series of horrible characters I am really having fun with. The first one, Dead Swan is already here on one of the blogs and the second I will share below. It’s called ‘Dead Rats in a Bag’. BEFORE YOU READ I had better include a warning this is not for the faint-hearted: Crime; drugs; death; swearing, and general bad behaviour. It may appeal to your sense of humour and irony. Or it may not! Naturally, it is a work of fiction – these characters just appeared one day and they won’t leave me alone! Enjoy! (mum – don’t read it!)
